2011 Fall Workshop

We are happy to announce our first Fall Workshop! The 2011 Fall Workshop is targeted to high school computing educators. This is our first 1-day event held in Northern Virginia. We plan to provide hands-on training and practice on some of the topics that have been well received in our previous workshops.

The workshop will take place on Saturday October 22, 2011 in Northern Virginia at the NRC facilities (http://www.nvc.vt.edu/). The workshop is hosted and sponsored by the Department of Computer Science at Virginia Tech.

In this workshop you will get to practice and explore: Computational Thinking and Media Computation. We hope that you will walk away understanding the practical details of how to use these approaches in the classroom. We will also have a discussion about the CS Principles effort to revamp the high school AP exam.

The ultimate goal of the workshops is to provide teachers with hands on experience using new and innovative approaches to teach computing. In addition, we want to foster the creation of a community of creative and innovative high school educators that can partner with us to explore new ways to teach computing.
